Two minutes with: John Werner
Bob Asmussen's chat with the Waco Tribune-Herald reporter
How are people in Waco feeling about the end of a 16-year bowl drought?
Elation. I think it shows by how many Baylor fans have bought tickets to the Texas Bowl.
Could Art Briles be elected mayor?
He'd have to beat out Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey.
Why was the program down for so long?
After many years of success in the Southwest Conference, the Bears started badly in the Big 12 and just haven't been able to pull themselves up until this season. With five coaching changes in the last 14 years, it's been difficult to establish any continuity, and that's impacted recruiting.
Is Baylor a football school, a men's basketball school or a women's basketball school?
All of the above, though women's basketball still has an edge because of the phenomenal success under Mulkey.
How many Baylor fans do you think will be at the Texas Bowl?
About 45,000 would be my guess.
Do you think the bear mascot knows the team is good?
I think Art Briles keeps the bear informed.
Is Robert Griffin going to displace Mike Singletary as the greatest Bear football player?
Griffin would need to have two more tremendous years to replace Singletary, a three-time All-America linebacker. As you drive up to Floyd Casey Stadium, bigger-than-life photos of Singletary and former coach Grant Teaff are above the main entrance. Those probably won't come down any time soon.
Give us a prediction.
I'll predict Baylor 35-31 with the homefield advantage. It's going to be high scoring.
