Illinois back in Pasadena?

Each Wednesday, beat writer Bob Asmussen projects his bowl lineup. This week, he's got Ron Zook's Illini headed west again:

Rose Bowl: Illinois vs. Oregon
Last time these two got together, the Ducks rallied in the fourth quarter for a victory at Eugene. Of course, that was 16 years and two Illini coaches ago. Lou Tepper took his 1995 squad to Autzen Stadium and almost pulled off the win. It will be a greater challenge for Ron Zook against Oregon at Pasadena. The Ducks laid an egg in the opener against LSU, but it might be time to credit the Tigers. Hard to imagine Oregon losing many games the rest of the season. If any. And if it keeps rolling, it will get to host the first Pac-12 title game. Seems fair.

Still don't see Wisconsin going to the BCS Championship game. I do not care who loses and the only perfect season teams are Wisconsin and Boise State. Wisconsin lost a BCS bowl (Rose 2011) to a non Automatic Qualifier (TCU). They are from a weak conference.

Any two loss SEC team will still go ahead of the Badgers, just look how Oklahoma has fallen and is no longer the standard bearer for the polls. I do not doubt that it is a residual affect of them losing bowl games to non AQs. So I would assume that Bob is picking Wisconsin to lose to ILLINOIS and Illinois winning the Big Ten.

I do no think that its right that Wisconsin would be slighted but I definitely do not think that the Badgers are going anywhere but back to Pasadena unless they lose.

nolintaylor - how long have you been watching college football?? There is absolutely no way that a 2 loss sec team will play in the BCS Championship Game with Wisconsin undefeated. Get a grip!

BTW - If Illinois is able to upset Wiscy and remains undefeated. The ILLINI would play in the BCS Championship Game ahead of a 2 loss sec team.

Go ILLINI!!

We had this discussion after last weeks game and only went with the 1-game loss for an SEC team over an undefeated Big Ten team. Especially, if that one loss were in the SEC championship game. They really could get the nod, but you really never know anymore with the BCS Formula.

I have been chanting "Rose Bowl" all season from my seats. Also, I did this all the way through the 2007 season and it seemed to work out well...
