Ford won't play in bowl game

CHAMPAIGN — Illinois senior running back Jason Ford and redshirt freshman receiver Jake Kumerow are academically ineligible under NCAA rules and will not participate in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, the school announced Friday.

Ford, who finishes his Illini career with 1,962 rushing yards, was the team's leading rusher this season, gaining 600 yards on 155 carries.

Kumerow played in seven games and had three catches for 15 yards.

Illinois will play UCLA at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 31 in San Francisco.
