Illinois coach Tim Beckman ranks ninth among the Big Ten coaches in salary. Here's what they are making:

Kirk Ferentz, Iowa $3.785

Brady Hoke, Michigan $3.254

Bo Pelini, Nebraska $2.775

Bret Bielema, Wisconsin $2.598

Bill O'Brien, Penn State $2.3

Mark Dantonio, Michigan State $2.250

Jerry Kill, Minnesota $1.7

Tim Beckman, Illinois $1.6

Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern $1.5

Kevin Wilson, Indiana $1.26

Danny Hope, Purdue $950,000

Is this based on salary from the schools? Or do shoe contracts and other additions weigh in? I'd be interested in knowing exactly what the coaches are paid by the schools, without other additional outside income...

Society, fans and schools put these guys up as gods. Just how did that work at Penn State.

Time all these folks took at least a 50% pay cut. They can keep the country club perks and cars

and celebrity. Over paid. Think of the students that scrap for money to go to school. People out

of work, no hope, no job, and this guy cashes a check that covers most of what a person makes

in a year. Horrible. Time the media stepped up and confronted this. Hope you like your

ticket costs, everytime you pay it guess who is getting their share.
