Final Word: Beckman on QBs

WDWS’ Steve Kelly caught up with coach Tim Beckman on Friday night at Sun Devil Stadium for an update on whether injured quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase (ankle) will be able to play against Arizona State.

“He’s doing fine. He took some reps on Thursday,” Beckman said. “We still haven’t made that final decision.”

If Scheelhaase doesn’t play, the Illini will rotate between Reilly O’Toole and Miles Osei, Beckman said.

Scheelhaase will not play unless he’s healthy.

“We would not want him to play if there’s not a reason for him to play,” Beckman said. “We’re not gonna put him out there unless he’s healthy.”
