Former Illini in the NFL update: Week 4

A look at how former Illini fared in the NFL this week:

JEFF ALLEN, Chiefs. Backup offensive lineman and his mates had a big day (see Asamoah, below).

JON ASAMOAH, Chiefs. Starting guard helped Chiefs run for more than 270 yards in OT win against Saints.

ALAN BALL, Texans. Reserve cornerback had no tackles in victory at Denver.

ARRELIOUS BENN, Buccaneers. Picked up his first catch of the season, an 8-yarder, in loss at Dallas. Also returned a kickoff 15 yards.

JOSH BRENT, Cowboys. Backup nose tackle registered one tackle in victory against Tampa Bay

JEFF CUMBERLAND, Jets. Starting tight end had two catches for 25 yards in win at Miami.

VONTAE DAVIS, Colts. Starting corner had three tackles and defended a pass in home loss to Jaguars.

DAVE DIEHL, Giants. Starting right tackle sat out Thursday night’s victory against Panthers.

KELVIN HAYDEN, Bears. Backup corner saw action, but had no tackles in victory against visiting Rams.

MICHAEL HOOMANAWANUI, Patriots. Tight end had one catch in last-second loss at Baltimore.

A.J. JENKINS, 49ers. Was inactive.

MIKEL LESHOURE, Lions. In his NFL debut, running back was busy, touching the ball 30 times (26 rushes, four catches). He ran for 100, including a 1-yard TD run, and had 34 receiving yards in OT loss to Titans.

COUREY LIUGET, Chargers. Starting defensive end had no tackles in home loss to Falcons.

BRANDON LLOYD, Patriots. Receiver had nine catches for 108 yards in last-second loss at Baltimore.

RASHARD MENDENHALL, Steelers. Remained inactive (knee).

WHITNEY MERCILUS, Texans. Backup linebacker had a pair of tackles on special teams in win at Denver.

BRIT MILLER, Rams. Reserve fullback saw action in road loss to Bears.

BRANDON MOORE, Jets. Starting guard helped New  York rush for 88 yards, protected QB Mark Sanchez (one sack) in road win against Dolphins.

PIERRE THOMAS, Saints. Reserve running back had 10 touches for a combined 66 yards (55 receiving on four catches) in overtime loss to Chiefs.

STEVE WEATHERFORD, Giants. Punted it only twice (for a 38.0-yard average). Held seven times successfully (five field goals, two extra points) in rout of Carolina.

MARTEZ WILSON, Saints. Backup defensive lineman had one tackle in overtime loss to visiting Kansas City.

TAVON WILSON, Patriots. Backup safety had two tackles in last-second loss at Baltimore.
