Marcus Jackson breaks down Saturday's 50-14 loss to Northwestern:
PLAYER OF THE GAME: Kain Colter, Northwestern.
The quarterback did it all, rushing for 88 yards and a touchdown while completing 9 of 11 passes for 102 yards and a career-high three TDs.
The Illini got off to a promising start, but four turnovers and shuffling quarterbacks didn’t work out while amassing 242 yards of total offense.
The Wildcats picked up 450 yards of total offense and bullied the Illini up front, rushing for 359 yards in a punishing performance.
A fumble on a kickoff return sucked the life out of the Illini. Northwestern never had to punt and got a pair of field goals from Jeff Budzien.
Illinois is trying to build this rivalry with Northwestern into a real thing, but it doesn’t help when you get blasted. Some serious changes must be made if this thing has any chance of turning around.
