Former Illinois assistant coach Billy Gonzales, who was co-offensive coordinator in 2012, will become Mississippi State receivers coach, according to multiple reports.

Gonzales will rejoin Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen. The two worked together on Urban Meyer’s staff at Florida.

With the addition of Gonzales, former Illini Tim Brewster will switch from coaching the Mississippi State receivers to working with the tight ends. Brewster is the former head coach at Minnesota.

Colby’s hire at Illinois official. Illinois hired former Illini player and assistant Greg Colby as its new defensive line coach.

Illinois coach Tim Beckman on Tuesday called Colby a vastly experienced coach with a track record of recruiting Chicago.
