Brent tests positive for marijuana

DALLAS — Prosecutors say Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent, a former Illini and Bloomington Central Catholic star, has tested positive for marijuana while awaiting trial for a deadly car crash.

In a motion filed Thursday, Dallas County prosecutors asked a judge to revoke Brent’s $100,000 bond after he failed a urine test taken last month.

Brent is charged in the Dec. 8 car crash that killed Jerry Brown, a Cowboys practice squad player and also a former Illini. Police have accused Brent of driving with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the legal limit.

A hearing on the prosecutors’ motion has not been scheduled. Brent’s attorney, George Milner, did not immediately return a phone message.

Smart move that  the DIA at UI took down the billboard touting him as a hometown hero.  Wait a minute - those were the folks who put up the billboard for someone who got kicked out of school!

Somewhere between idiotic and sad.

Or both.

Just a tragedy.  Zook regime bent over backwards to keep him on the field, when he should have launched instead.  Maybe then he never would have ended up on an NFL roster.

Past due time to lock him up and throw the key away......

If I was facing the mountain of a sh-tstorm he's gotten himself in, I'd probably want to smoke a bowl too.
