Me thinks the News Gazette (and Illini S I D office) are desperate for any kind of good news in football - - - - are highly over rate this QB. We shall see........

So many questions:

1. How, specifically, has the N-G or the SID "over rate (sic)" him?

2. Are you suggesting, like that lunatic Moonpie has, that the N-G works as a PR arm for the U of I? If so, would you like me to tell you why that's stupid? If not, what was the point of juxtaposing them?

3. Do you not get why this is big news?

4. Is there any kind of lining you put in your tinfoil hat to make it more comfortable?

(Though I will say the caption on the link to this story suggesting it's the biggest news since Tez, how 'bout that whole going to the Rose Bowl thing?)

I really hope that Wes can come in and lead this team next year! I think that he has the ability and size to do so, but he will only be as good as the line that holds for him!

Hi, IlliniMike--flattering that you mention me. I'm actually not a lunatic -- if I were, I'd of course claim allegiance to the Tea Party and believe that Sir Tate is a wonderful guy who treats fans well. I love thinking how you must lose sleep fretting I will appear and oppose the bubble world of the conservative Sleepy Gazoo and point out essential truths, the chief being that the Sleepy Gazoo is indeed a bit of a PR arm for the athletic department. But finally some credit goes to the Sleepy Gazoo for admitting today that without the transfer restrictions on Lunt, he likely would not have chosen the Illini, a football backwater.Lunt likely can start in a year (but will Beckman be here to see it?). O'Toole should indeed transfer to a small program, and Bailey ought to be converted to another position. Like Scheelhaase, he's not really a QB. My views on Illini sports, on the school I graduated from, are just as entitled to be here as yours. Get over it. Or perhaps start your own board and forbid anyone to disagree with you or Tate and only allow people who think alike. Or just keep trying to shout people down with your fingers in your ears so you never hear anything but the sound of your own voice. Good luck with that!

So Cliff Alexander is visiting Illinois ...

So, was it the picture next to the article that confused everyone posting comments?

Silly me, I thought that people would be commenting about Cliff Alexander... Here's to hoping that Coach Groce can work some of his charm and magic to get a big name recruit on campus for 2014.

Go Illini!
