The votes are in, and the Illini are ...

Three things that caught the eye of our AP Top 25 voter, Bob Asmussen:
The chickens (coaches) overwhelmingly went with Alabama. Obviously, they’re all afraid of Nick Saban. The Tide lost a ton of talent and has significant holes on both sides of the ball. I would have gone with Ohio State, which will be No. 1 on my first ballot.

The Pac-12 is the new SEC. Like the Big Ten, it has five teams in the Top 25 and two in the Top 4. Chip Kelly won’t be missed a bit.

Notre Dame checks in way too high. Did you see the title game? Did their quarterback not get booted out of school? The Irish are consistently overrated in the preseason. Rarely do they live up to the hype.
