THE SCHEDULE

Want to know which of Saturday’s games are worth your while? Here’s the scoop from sports editor JIM ROSSOW, coming off a rare successful weekend (4-1):

No. 3 Ohio State at Illinois
11 a.m., ESPN

Buckeyes can tie school record for longest winning streak, Woody Hayes’ juggernauts winning 22 in a row from 1967 to ‘69. At 21 in a row, Ohio State’s current run is head-and-shoulders above the competition (Alabama has won 13 in a row, Baylor 12 and Florida State 11).

Rossow’s pick: Ohio State, 45-13

Purdue at Penn State
11 a.m., BTN

Edge in a matchup of only starting true freshman quarterbacks in the Big Ten (Christian Hackenberg, Danny Etling) definitely goes to the Nittany Lions. That’s because Etling is relying on too many classmates as Purdue started five freshmen on offense last week.

Rossow’s pick: Penn State, 28-7

Indiana at No. 17 Wisconsin
11 a.m., ESPN2

Badgers have won eight in a row against the Hoosiers, winning by an average margin of 35.4 points.

Rossow’s pick: Wisconsin, 35-31

No. 14 Michigan State
at Nebraska
2:30 p.m., WICD (ABC)

Ameer Abdullah is one of two Big Ten running backs who are among 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award (along with Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon). Abdullah’s 1,213 rushing yards are the most by a Cornhusker through nine games since Ahman Green in 1997.

Rossow’s pick: Michigan State, 14-13

Michigan at Northwestern
2:30 p.m., BTN

A scorecard won’t help much at Ryan Field. In an effort to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, Pat Fitzgerald replaced the players’ names on the back of their jerseys with “Duty,” “Honor,” “Courage,” “Commitment,” “Integrity,” “Country” and “Service.” After the game, the tops will be auctioned off.

Rossow’s pick: Northwestern, 31-30
