Want to know which of Saturday’s games are worth your while? Here’s the scoop from beat writer MATT DANIELS, who takes over for Jim Rossow after the former N-G sports editor couldn’t contain himself once he posted another 4-1 weekend:

Illinois at Purdue
11 a.m., BTN

Doubt Mike Thomas pulls a Ron Guenther and guarantees Tim Beckman another year at halftime. Bringing the Purdue Cannon back to Champaign-Urbana for the first time since 2001 would boost Beckman’s job status.
Daniels’ pick: Illinois, 41-32

Michigan at Iowa
11 a.m., BTN

Watch out, Braylon Edwards. Jeremy Gallon and his 1,062 receiving yards are only 113 from leaping past six former wideouts into second place all time in single-season receiving yards.
Daniels’ pick: Michigan, 15-12

No. 13 Michigan State at Northwestern
11 a.m., ESPN

All that’s at stake for Sparty is a spot in the Big Ten title game, a championship Mark Dantonio’s school hasn’t won outright since 1987.
Daniels’ pick: Michigan State, 37-14

No. 16 Wisconsin at Minnesota
2:30 p.m., ESPN

Last time the Gophers hoisted Paul Bunyan’s Axe (2003), Glen Mason was still the hot coach in the Big Ten, Marion Barber could still do a backflip and Al Franken was still a comedian.
Daniels’ pick: Wisconsin, 35-32

Nebraska at Penn State
2:30 p.m., BTN

Doak Walker semifinalist Ameer Abdullah needs 164 yards to become only fourth Cornhuskers back to reach 1,500 yards in a season.
Daniels’ pick: Nebraska, 27-21

Indiana at No. 4 Ohio State
2:30 p.m., WICD (ABC)

Urban Meyer continues his quest to be known as the next Pop Warner to future generations. He only needs eight more wins in a row to tie the 30 consecutive wins Warner had at the start of his tenure at Pittsburgh nearly 100 years ago.
Daniels’ pick: Ohio State, 66-42
