UI grade vs. Purdue: B-
Player of the game: Illinois' Steve Hull
The Cincinnati kid continues his impressive late-career run. It is no pipe dream that he could join A.J. Jenkins, Arrelious Benn and Brandon Lloyd among the 1,000-yard receivers this century.
Illinois C, Purdue D
Tailback Josh Ferguson notched his second career 100-yard game against a Big Ten team. His dad, Collin, called the big day before the game. Wonder if he has any stock tips. Oh, and the Boilers are brutal.
Illinois B-, Purdue C
Highest mark of the Big Ten season for Tim Banks’ crew. Thanks to Jonathan Brown, the Boilers couldn’t move the ball. Boilers did force three turnovers. Not bad.
Illinois C, Purdue D-
Hey, Illini returners, catch the ball. And then, hang onto it. You will win more games that way. Whoever coached the fake field goal for Purdue, yikes. The intramural teams in West Lafayette could do it better.
Illinois B-, Purdue D
All the fans who stayed home win the Smart Folks Award. You didn’t miss much other than frostbite. And an awkward moment with Drew Brees trying to rev up the student section. Hard to believe these teams play for a trophy.
