Illinois lands wideout

In a position group where Illinois doesn't have many experienced returnees, Tim Beckman added a wide receiver on Tuesday morning.

One who is likely to be eligible immediately for the 2014 season.

Raphael Barr from Citrus (Calif.) College committed to Illinois on Tuesday, and he'll have four years to play three seasons, according to various reports.

The California native had offers from New Mexico, South Alabama and UAB before choosing the Illini.

He is the third junior college wide receiver for Illinois in the Class of 2014, joining Geronimo Allison from Iowa Western Community College and Tyrin Stone-Davis from Pierce (Calif.) College.

Barr played one season at Citrus, hauling in 27 catches for 408 yards and six touchdowns last fall.

"Committed to the University Of Illinois, I thank GOD for blessing me and allowing me to call this place home for the next 3-4 years," Barr posted on his Twitter and Instagram account on Tuesday morning.
