Asmussen's Top 50: No. 27 Washington

Asmussen's Top 50: No. 27 Washington

Bob Asmussen continues his countdown of his picks for the Top 50 college football teams this fall.

No. 27: Washington

Coach: Chris Petersen

2013 Record: 9-4

Projected 2014 Record: 10-3

Circle the date: Oct. 18 at Oregon

Why No. 27: When Steve Sarkisian fled for Southern Cal, the Huskies made the perfect hire in pulling Petersen away from his beloved Boise State. The naysayers pointed at the Broncos schedule to explain some of Petersen’s success. Now, we will find out if the doubters were right. Washington needs a replacement for star running back Bishop Sankey and a new quarterback. But the offensive line welcomes back all five starters. The defensive line returns all four starters and the linebackers are strong. The big concern on defense is in the secondary. Illii fans will have a chance to check out the Huskies when the teams play in Seattle on Sept. 13. The rest of the nonconference schedule is soft, which helps Petersen ease into the Pac-12.
