Day 10 takeaways

Day 10 takeaways

Some offensive consistency — and fewer turnovers — highlighted Day 10 of Illinois training camp. Here's what caught beat writer SCOTT RICHEY's attention Thursday at Campus Rec Fields:

Redshirt sophomore running back Reggie Corbin took the next step in his return, shedding the green "no contact" jersey. His reps were still limited, though, with freshmen Mike Epstein and Ra'Von Bonner getting the most.

Freshman cornerback Tony Adams could challenge for one of the starting spots this season, but for the time being he's on the Dudek Plan. That would be one day of practice for the Belleville native followed by a day off.

Illinois might have a couple options on kickoffs. Junior kicker Chase McLaughlin returns after handling those duties in 2016, but redshirt freshman James McCourt showed off a big leg of his own during special teams drills.
