UI women golfers fall to 11th place

The Illinois women's golf team fell to 11th place Saturday in the Lady Kat Invitational in Lexington, Ky., after shooting a 323.

Karen Karmazin leads the Illini with a two-day 157, 1 shot ahead of Jessica Hayes.

Host Kentucky leads the tourney with a 298, and Michigan State's Kasey Gant is the low scorer with a 146.

In men's tennis: Rain delay.

Rain postponed the first day of matches Saturday at the All-American Championships in Austin, Texas.

Illini Jeff Laski, Matt Snyder, David Treadwell, Brady Blain and Jakub Teply are vying for a spot in the qualifying round. The UI's Cary Franklin and Gavin Sontag received automatic berths in the main singles draw. Franklin and Oliver Freelove already have a berth in doubles.
