Monday's highlights: Breakthrough for Villa Grove

In volleyball

Salt Fork 2, Villa Grove 1. Villa Grove didn't win the match, but it did win a set for the first time in two seasons as the visiting Storm prevailed 25-18, 22-25, 25-7. "Huge accomplishment for these young ladies," Blue Devils coach Lydia Benson said. Kelsey Dees led Villa Grove with eight digs and five service aces. Emilie McFadden paced Salt Fork with 15 kills, while Allie Trosper contributed nine aces and 16 assists.

Champaign Central 2, Monticello 0. The host Maroons won 25-20, 25-13 behind Maddie LeGrande's eight kills and Mia McDonald's 27 assists. Mallory Becker had eight digs and Allie Hislope recorded four blocks for the Sages.

Judah Christian 2, Danville First Baptist 0. The Tribe won at home 25-23, 25-7 behind Katie Rummery's seven service aces and seven digs. Kylie Beaumont finished with 17 assists and three aces for Judah.

B-H 2, CPCI 0. Brittany Spicer's eight kills and four blocks boosted Bismarck-Henning to a 25-19, 25-21 road win. Hillary Hines had five kills and four digs for CPCI.

St. Joseph-Ogden 2, Unity 0. Shelby Simmons belted eight kills and Sydney Stone had 14 assists for the Spartans in a 25-16, 25-18 road win.

Blue Ridge 2, DeLand-Weldon 1. Emily Zelhart had 14 assists, 11 digs and five service aces for the Knights in a 25-18, 22-25, 26-24 home win. Courtney Cox added five kills for Blue Ridge (11-4).

AOC 2, Pana First Baptist 0. Alysha Beachy's five kills and Natalie Chesnut's six assists lifted Arthur Okaw Christian to a 25-13, 25-12 road win.

Iroquois West 2, GCMS 0. Allyson Barnes had 10 digs for the visiting Falcons in a 25-22, 25-14 loss.

Watseka 2, Milford 0. The Warriors remained undefeated at 14-0 with a 25-21. 25-6 victory at Milford. Emily Allhands and Allison Kaper combined for 13 kills for Watseka. Kat Grimes contributed 16 assists and two service aces to the win.

Sullivan 2, A-L 0. Brittin Boyer had six kills and Haylie Payton added 11 digs for Sullivan in a 25-23, 25-17 home win against Arthur-Lovington. A-L was led by Karly Goodman (seven kills) and Emily Seegmiller (eight digs).

Heritage 2, A-O 0. Heritage outbattled visiting Argenta-Oreana 26-24, 25-17 behind Cedar Richardson's five kills and three blocks. Taylor Wienke added seven digs and six assists for the Hawks. Alex Stupek had six kills and five digs for the Bombers.

In boys' soccer

Monticello 8, Fisher/GCMS 1. Josh Schumacher and Luke Hanselman each had hat tricks for the Sages, who rolled to a home win. Matt Menacher contributed two assists for Monticello. David Ricks scored in the first half for Fisher/GCMS.

St. Joseph-Ogden 8, G-RF 0. The Spartans built a 6-0 halftime lead and were never threatened in a win against visiting Georgetown-Ridge Farm. Colin Seward scored SJ-O's first two goals and finished with a hat trick. Austin Baker and Jamie Carley added two goals apiece, while Cameron Harpst contributed two assists.

Salt Fork/Westville 4, Unity 1. Alex Burke scored twice for the Storm in a home win. Noah Winn connected for Unity in the second half.

Blue Ridge 4, BCC 0. Jon Jones scored twice, each on assists by Ian Riggs, for the Knights in a road win against Bloomington Central Catholic. Jones also had one assist.

In boys' golf

At Danville. Bismarck-Henning swept the top three individual spots and won a three-team meet at Harrison Park Golf Course. Andy Bott earned medalist honors with a par 35, 1 stroke in front of David Warren. Austin Toler (40) finished third. Jacob Katavich led runner-up Salt Fork with a 42, and Chase Henry paced third-place Westville with a 42.

At Gibson City. Led by medalist Devyn Roesch, GCMS had two of the top three individual scorers in capturing a three-team meet at Railside Golf Club. Roesch carded a 45, 3 strokes ahead of teammate Wyatt Brownlee and CPCI's Ryan Peters. Sheldon Stumpf and Jakob Hobbs led third-place Fisher with 53s.

At Monticello. The host Sages won a three-team meet by 10 strokes behind the scoring of Tyler Taylor (41), Daniel Welling (42) and Kyle Smith (42) at Monticello Country Club. Mason Potts shot a 40 to finish second for runner-up Blue Ridge.

At Grant Park. Clark Fink and Kameron Wilken each shot 45s to lead Iroquois West to a 188-195 win against Grant Park at Minne Monesse Golf Club.

In girls' golf

At Decatur. Champaign Central's Janice Choo shot a 48 to finish second in a three-team meet at Scovill Golf Course. Katelynn Martinez led runner-up Centennial with a 52.

At Urbana. Medalist Caroline Dodds shot a 49 for St. Thomas More in a 232-232 tie with LeRoy at Stone Creek Golf Course. Runner-up Jessie Wohlwend led the Panthers with a 53.

At Grant Park. Gwen Orr and Lindsey Luehrsen each carded 50s for Iroquois West in a 206-237 victory against Grant Park at Minne Monesse Golf Club.

At Farmer City. Blue Ridge's Megan Tsevelekos shot a 49 to finish 1 stroke behind the medalist, but the Knights lost to Tri-Valley 225-263 at Woodlawn Country Club.

In girls' tennis

At Urbana. Amy Shah and Neha Patel each had singles victories and combined for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles to lead Danville past St. Thomas More, 7-2, at Atkins Tennis Center. Madie Baillon had a hand in both STM team points, winning at No. 1 singles and joining Alyssa Vodacek for an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.
