Golfer Campbell earns Big Ten POY

Illinois junior golfer Brian Campbell was named Big Ten Player of the Year, the conference announced Wednesday.

Campbell was joined by sophomores Charlie Danielson and Thomas Detry as unanimous selections on the All-Big Ten first team. The team was selected based on voting by the league’s men’s golf coaches.

Fifth-year senior Jonathan Hauter was named the team’s sportsmanship honoree.
It was the third consecutive year and fourth time in five seasons that an Illini was named Player of the Year. The others were Thomas Pieters (2013), Luke Guthrie (2012) and Scott Langley (2010).
