Two Illini make U.S. Open cut

Two Illini make U.S. Open cut

Steve Stricker (+1)

The “best player never to have won a major” has a chance after a second-round 71. But he’s going to need a Johnny Miller-type effort during the weekend.

Scott Langley (+3)

After a hot start, he struggled coming home, shooting 5 over on his last eight holes. Still, he will play the weekend.

Brian Campbell (+6)

Improved his second-day score by 6 strokes, but he will always remember his bogey on the final hole that cost him a weekend of golf.

Luke Guthrie (+7)

Second-year Tour player could never get it going, following opening-round 73 with a second-round 74. He is on the way home two days earlier than he hoped.

D.A. Points (+11)

The struggles continue for the two-time PGA winner, his score  near the bottom of the entire field. Might be time to call Bill Murray for another pro-am.
