Illini women sign three

Three gymnasts, including the 1999 New Jersey state prep all-around champion, have signed with the Illinois women''s program.
Illini coach Bob Starkell said Wednesday that Kim Kirzow of Eatontown, N.J.; Emily Earle of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Katie Wild of Mendota Heights, Minn., will enter the UI next fall.
Each of these athletes could help provide the talent and skills to make next year''s group a Top 15 program, Starkell said.
Kirzow, who attends Monmouth Regional High, holds the New Jersey state record in the vault with a perfect 10.0 score. She finished first in floor exercise and second in balance beam en route to the state all-around title two years ago. Kirzow was third in the all-around in the Region - VII Championships in 2000.
Earle, who attends Canterbury School of Florida, was a Region VIII junior national qualifier this year.
Wild, who attends Cretin-Dernam Hall High, is a four-time member of the Region IV junior national team and was the region''s champion in floor exercise in 1999.
