Illinois gymnastics coach Yoski Hayasaki and Illini sophomore Justin Spring leave later this month for Daegu, South Korea, to compete in the World University Games.

Spring is one of six competitors on the U.S. men''s gymnastics team. Hayasaki is serving as the team leader.

"I''m very excited that Justin has been selected for this event," Hayasaki said. "He is already an outstanding gymnast, but competiting in a prestigious world event such as this will only help him grow gymnastically."

Spring earned All-America honors last season in the floor exercise and parallel bars.
