Men''s gymnasts stay No. 2

The Illinois men''s gymnastics team was the equal of No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday at Huff Hall, but Yoshi Hayasaki''s Illini remain second to the Buckeyes in the rankings.

Ohio State retained its No. 1 spot and Illinois stayed No. 2 in this week''s GymInfo poll after the teams tied in a Big Ten dual meet. With rankings based on season scoring averages, the Buckeyes lead at 221.562, and Illinois trails at 221.425.

Illini freshman Wes Haagensen is ranked fourth in all-around with a 55.375 average. Two other Illini are No. 4 in a total of three events: Tyler Yamauchi in still rings and parallel bars, and Justin Spring in high bar.

As a team, Illinois leads the nation in parallel bars with a 37.383 average.
