Illinois junior Tyler Mizoguchi was named Big Ten Men’s Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.
The Houston native had four top-four finishes Saturday to lead the No. 4 Illini to a season-high score of 359.100 in a three-team meet at Norman, Okla. Illinois placed second behind No. 2 Oklahoma and ahead of No. 5 Penn State.
Mizoguchi was the all-around runner-up with a career-best score of 90.800. He also recorded personal-best scores while winning parallel bars (15.500), placing second place in vault (16.250), tying for fourth in high bar (14.800) and finishing sixth in floor exercise (15.300).
Mizoguchi previously received the league’s weekly award on Jan. 31, and Feb. 21.
