Big Ten honors Leonard

Illini center Meyers Leonard, who averaged 16.5 points and shot 75 percent from the field in a pair of victories last week, was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week in men's basketball today.

The 7-foot-1 sophmores also averaged 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in wins against Maryland and Gonzaga.

The weekly honor was the first of Leonard's career. He shared it with Michigan State guard Keith Appling.
