Klee's Top 10 for 2012-13

Klee's Top 10 for 2012-13

Kentucky won the national title Monday. How about next season?

Assuming the likely candidates will enter the NBA draft, basketball writer Paul Klee has an early look at the Top 10 teams for the 2012-13 season:

1. Indiana

No Sweet 16 qualifier returns more than Hoosiers, making them best bet to cut nets in Atlanta

2. Michigan

Trey Burke's decision — stay or NBA? — will determine if Michigan can defend co-Big Ten title

3. Louisville

Overachieving Cards get full season out of News-Gazette All-Stater Wayne Blackshear

4. Michigan State

Exit Draymond Green, enter Gary Harris; Spartans reload if Branden Dawson (knee) recovers

5. Baylor

Based on idea Quincy Miller returns as sophomore; Perry Jones III likely to enter draft

6. Duke

Shaky pick here after star guard Austin Rivers declared for NBA draft Monday

7. North Carolina

Barnes, Marshall and Henson likely to leave for NBA; Possibly James McAdoo, too

8. N.C. State

First-year coach Mark Gottfried welcomes three McDonald's All-Americans next season

9. Kentucky

Expect a roster overhaul in Lexington; Cats don't have comparable firepower coming in

10. Creighton

First-team All-American Doug McDermott headlines players that will return in '12-13

Others considered: Gonzaga, San Diego State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, VCU

If you are correct (and I think you are way off on IU, especially w/ no Zeller) then the B 10  will again be a very difficult place for the Illini to be trying to eek out w's

I will rarely get on anyone for making a preseason Top 10 list, but... This isn't a serious list, is it?  I mean this is absolutely nuts.  Indiana and Michigan the Top 2 teams in the Nation?  I have an extremely hard time believing either team will even crack the Top 2 in the B10 next season.  Indiana simply is not that good.  Neither is Michigan.  And Wisconsin in the Top 15 even though they lose Jordan Taylor?  I mean, this just seems completely off-the-walls crazy.

Have I missed something? Is Zeller jumping to the NBA?

Michigan without Smotrycz is like eggs without the bacon.  The once-great team will be a shell of its former self; a study in moppishness.
