Head reunited with Howard at SMU

Their relationship goes back almost a decade - all of those years in Illini territory.

Now Crandall Head will be reunited Jerrance Howard in, of all places, Texas.

Head announced today he will transfer to Southern Methodist, where Howard is an assistant coach under Larry Brown.

The 6-foot-5 sophomore left the Illinois program in January after 1 1/2 seasons with the Illini. He's expected to sit out the 2012-13 season before becoming eligible for the 2013-14 season.

Howard, the former UI assistant and player, was close friends and teammates with Crandall's older brother, Luther. That's how he got to know Crandall. When Head and his basketball career needed a fresh start, he turned to Howard at SMU.
