Badgers, Hawkeyes offer Finke

Champaign-Urbana could have its next Big Ten basketball player.

Centennial standout Mike Finke was awarded a scholarship offer from Bo Ryan on a campus visit at Wisconsin on Wednesday, AAU coach Gavin Sullivan said. Finke, who is entering his junior year at Centennial, also received an offer from Iowa and coach Fran McCaffery.

As a sophomore starter, Finke averaged 11.4 points and 6.8 rebounds and earned second-team News-Gazette All-Area honors.

Finke's father, Jeff, was a two-sport athlete at Illinois.

It has been a robust July for Finke, who plays for Peoria Irish on the club circuit. Illinois-Chicago and Wisconsin-Green Bay extended offers earlier this week. Eastern Illinois, Loyola, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and SIU-Edwardsville have also offered Finke.
