Illini recruit Malcolm Hill returns to court

CHAMPAIGN – After recovering from a scary ailment and lengthy surgery, Malcolm Hill has been cleared to return to full-contact participation on the basketball court.

A senior at Belleville East, Hill was cleared by doctors earlier this week, Southwestern Illinois Jets coach Patrick Smith said today. Smith has coached Hill since the latter was in the third grade.

The Illinois basketball recruit underwent surgery in July after suffering a rib injury that led to a blood clot in his left arm. The 6-foot-6 swingman is a key member of John Groce’s 2013 recruiting class and was a News-Gazette All-State selection.
