Harrington back at work

As he pondered his next career move, Sean Harrington thought back to his time as an Illinois undergrad.

The former Illini sharpshooter always thought he would enjoy a career in TV as a college basketball analyst.

“But between basketball and the time you had to devote (with the coursework) it wasn’t really possible (for him) to do in college,” said Harrington, who instead graduated from the UI with a degree in advertising.

No worries. After nine seasons on staffs at Saint Louis University, Northern Illinois, Kansas and Illinois, Harrington got his first crack in front of a camera. This season he will work as a studio analyst and color commentator for BTN, which continues to do a fine job assembling knowledgeable basketball minds for its on-air talent.

“This is something I’ve always thought about doing,” said Harrington, who lives in C-U with his wife, Christine, and 19-month-old son, James.
Harrington views TV as a long-term profession. His Big Ten schedule could include up to a dozen nonconference games before Christmas.
