Illini ranked in both polls

CHAMPAIGN — A scare on Sunday against Gardner-Webb after winning the Maui Invitational didn't keep Illinois from cracking the college basketball polls.

In the new polls released today, unbeaten Illinois came in at No. 22 in the Associated Press poll and No. 22 in the coaches poll. Illinois is one of five Big Ten teams to be ranked in both Top 25s. Indiana (No. 1 AP/No. 1 Coaches), Michigan (3/3), Ohio State (4/4) and Michigan State (13/14) are the others.

The Illini last played a game as a ranked team Jan. 22, 2012. No. 22 Illinois was beaten 67-63 by unranked Wisconsin. That same week, Illinois was beaten on the road by Penn State.

I am a little suprised the Illini are ranked but very nice. I just wanted to tell Markus that he missed Minny on the rankings. So that's 6 B1G teams ranked.  Well I see Minny not ranked in the coach's poll so I missed that so sorry to Marcus. The B1G looks great this year.  GO ILLINI!!

Gotta give a boat load of credit to Groce & the guys.  it obviously doesn't mean a whole lot at this point, however, nobody saw this coming (that is undefeated and ranked on the eave of the ACC-Big10 challenge.  Go ILLINI

The BEST thing about this poll, and I know it is early, is that Illinois is ranked and Kansas State is only receiving votes : )

Where is moony, the# 1 critic of our coach's and sports writers?  He must have broke his typing finger.  Congrats to to the coaching staff and the players on being rated.

Seriously Illinigator, you should see a shrink about your obsession with Mr. Moonpie.

Arch,  your right. his stupid remarks should be ignored.  He just says things to get attention and rile people up.  I really beleive he's a hoosier or a hawkeye fan.  No true Illinois fan would make the remarks he makes.

Why? He is right. Moonpie is an irritating pain in the behind that turns every story into a whine about our coaches and/or Loren Tate. I am shocked to find he has posted no negative comments after this article.
