Poll positioning

Beat writer Marcus Jackson offers three things you should know about this week’s Top 25 Associated Press poll:

— When No. 10 Illinois and No. 12 Missouri (Alex Oriakhi, right) meet Saturday in St. Louis, it’ll be the first time the rivals have played one another while both were ranked in the Top 15 since Dec.  21, 2002, when No. 12 Illinois beat No. 11 Missouri 85-70.

— Duke, which supplanted Indiana for the No. 1 spot this week, received 63 of 65 first-place votes and is atop the poll for the 123rd week in program history. The Blue Devils are second to UCLA, which has spent 134 weeks at No. 1.

— Butler, which entered the poll at No. 19 this week after knocking off No. 1 Indiana, is ranked for the first time since the opening week of the 2010-11 season when the Bulldogs were coming off a loss in the national title game to Duke.
