Countdown to Selection Sunday: Illinois not a Top 4 seed

It’s 65 days until the brackets are released, but here’s how beat writer Marcus Jackson sees the top four seeds in each region (sorry, Illinois fans):

1. Duke (ACC)
2. Indiana (Big Ten)
— The last time the Hoosiers were seeded higher than fourth in the tournament, Bob Knight led his second-seeded team to the Elite Eight.
3. Florida (SEC)
4. Butler (Atlantic 10)

1. Michigan (Big Ten)
2. Syracuse (Big East)
3.  Minnesota (Big Ten)
— Of the Gophers’ 13 wins, five have come against teams in the RPI Top 100 with the lone loss coming to No. 1 Duke.
4. Georgetown (Big East)

1. Louisville (Big East)
2. Ohio State (Big Ten)
3.  Missouri (SEC)
4. Creighton (Missouri Valley)
— Since the NCAA tournament expanded in 1985, the Blue Jays have never been seeded higher than sixth (2003).

1. Arizona (Pac-12)
2. Kansas (Big 12)
— The Jayhawks own four wins against the RPI Top 50, the best of the bunch being a win on the road against Ohio State.
3. Gonzaga (West Coast)
4. San Diego State (Mountain West)
