Let the good times roll

After playing four Top 25 teams in their last five games — including Sunday's 57-53 win at Minnesota — the Illini finally get a breather. Five of their next six are against teams with .500 or below records in the Big Ten. A look at the upcoming stretch, courtesy sports editor Jim Rossow:
Wednesday vs. Purdue: D.J. Byrd, who took it to Illinois on Jan. 2, took one shot and was held scoreless in Saturday’s loss to Michigan State
Next Sunday at Northwestern: Alex Olah (head) and Jared Swopshire (leg) left Saturday’s loss to Iowa, Wildcats’ third in four games
Feb. 21 vs. Penn State: Nittany Lions have lost 16 straight road games and 14 consecutive Big Ten conference road games
Feb. 24  at No. 3 Michigan: Wolverines will be rested: they have a week off before the Illini visit Crisler Center
March 2 vs. Nebraska: Senior Night and celebration of Assembly Hall’s 50th birthday make for festive atmosphere
Feb. 5 at Iowa:  Illini have won three in a row in Iowa City and 7 of 8 overall against the Hawkeyes
