Illini grade vs. Nebraska: C+

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Illinois’ Brandon Paul
The senior greeted his parents warmly before the game, then made sure not to lose on Senior Night. His three-point shooting wasn’t so hot (1 of 7), but he scored when it counted most.

BACKCOURT

Nebraska A-, Illinois C+

D.J. Richardson had a solid performance in his Assembly Hall finale. Dylan Talley and Ray Gallegos were a pain for the Illini, hitting 8 of 16 threes and combining for 43 points.

FRONTCOURT

Nebraska C, Illinois D

Good news: Tyler Griffey hit another three-pointer in a rare (lately) start. Nebraska big guy Brandon Ubel is among the most underappreciated players in the Big Ten.

BENCH

Nebraska F, Illinois A

All three Illini subs hit double figures, led by Tracy Abrams with 16. And Myke Henry almost hit a double-double in his best game. Illini subs outscored Huskers 38-0. Really.

OVERALL

Nebraska C, Illinois C+

We’re being generous because it was Senior Night. It was a game the Illini couldn’t lose and they didn’t. But it was closer than most everyone in the building expected.
