Tourney preview: Penn State

All day, we'll break down each team's chances at the Big Ten tournament at the United Center:

No 12 seed: Penn State

Their coach ... is a lot like John Groce: A bald ball of fire. Patrick Chambers deserved a Coach of the Year vote for somehow milking two Big Ten wins out of a YMCA roster.

Their MVP ... won’t be MVP next season. With first-team All-Big Ten choice Tim Frazier injured, D.J. Newbill got to take a lot of shots (team-best 16.1 points, fourth-best in the Big Ten).

Their Chicago connection ... is Evanston, where they won their only Big Ten road game this season. The Nittany Lions enjoy their trips to O’Hare, winning four of their last five games at Welsh-Ryan.

They’ll cut down the nets if ... it was a co-ed tournament. The Nittany Lions are ranked eighth in this week’s women’s Top 25, the highest of any Big Ten team.

They’ll be bummed if ... the Big Ten hands out hotel assignments according to the standings. If they’re going to be in town for only one night, it better not be at the Bellwood EcoLodge.

We see the Nittany Lions ... winning two games ... at the ‘14 tournament with a healthy Frazier making the all-tournament team.
