MJ in Austin: 'Weather ... has been terrific'
Thanks to former Illini softball star Shanna Diller, I attended the Texas-Baylor softball game on Sunday. It was 50 degrees at first pitch and the folks in the stands were bundled up like I expect you all who are dealing with the snowstorm back home. A local weather person made reference to a “cold front.” These people don’t know how good they have it.
I heard one fan say he’d rather move games to the Bahamas or something if it’s going to be this cold. It was a great crowd, though (1,064). Texas won 5-1.
I watched the end of the Ohio State game on my phone from the stands.
Another thing I learned about Texas today: McDonald’s stops serving breakfast on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. I don’t know a ton, but I learned in Adam Sandler’s “Big Daddy” that McDonald’s serves breakfast until 11 a.m. on Sundays. They need to get with it down here.
Other than that, it’s been a great stay in Austin. The people have been nice and the weather, as I’ve gloated about plenty to you, has been terrific.
I’m going to try to get back to the Midwest on Monday. The Illini were supposed to leave Sunday after the game, but the snowstorm kept them here in Austin for another night.
See y’all back in the snow,
