Judson leaving Illinois State

Former Illinois men's basketball assistant coach Rob Judson has resigned his assistant coaching position at Illinois State, effective immediately.

Judson said he is resigning to "pursue other professional opportunities."

Judson's contract will be bought out by Illinois State for $175,000.

Judson, who played for four years at Illinois from 1977-80 under Lou Henson, was later an assistant at Illinois for five seasons under Lon Kruger and Bill Self.

He became the head coach at Northern Illinois prior to the 2001-02 season and lasted six seasons in DeKalb, compiling a 74-101 record in his tenure.

Judson then moved on to Illinois State before the start of the 2007-08 season as an assistant coach under former Redbirds coach Tim Jankovich. He stayed on this past season under new coach Dan Muller and helped the Redbirds to an 18-15 record.
