MJ's preseason Top 25: It's Sparty's party

The AP preseason Top 25 men’s basketball poll comes out Oct. 31.
Staff writer MARCUS JACKSON, who has a vote, submitted his ballot Monday.

Most are pegging Kentucky as the top team in the country entering the 2013-14 season thanks to one of the best recruiting classes in the history of the game.

When the first Associated Press poll is released Oct. 31, John Calipari’s squad will likely top the list. But while this version of the Baby ‘Cats is sure to be better than last year’s team that lost in the first round of the NIT, we won’t know until the season starts to play out.

We know what Tom Izzo is working with. Gary Harris and Adreian Payne passed up the NBA to return to a group that also features Keith Appling, Branden Dawson and Denzel Valentine. Tom Izzo has a wealth of talent, and with six Final Four appearances he’s shown he knows what to do with it.
