Beat writer's take: Jaylon Tate's night (video)

College basketball beat writer Marcus Jackson liked the way freshman point guard Jaylon Tate played in Thursday's exhibition opener, a 101-66 romp against McKendree.

"He really performed like a veteran. He was composed, calm and confident."

Tate had 13 points in relief of Tracy Abrams, who twisted an ankle early but returned.
