Player of the game
Roy Devyn Marble, Iowa

The son of the Hawkeyes legend made up for a scoreless first half by putting up 17 after intermission. He added four rebounds, three steals and two assists. We won’t mention his six turnovers. Because his team won.

Iowa B, Illinois A-

All three Illini starters hit double figures, led by Joseph Bertrand’s 20. Rayvonte Rice finished one rebound short of a double-double. And Tracy Abrams was moving a lot better.

Iowa B, Illinois C

Aaron White was steady as always for the Hawkeyes, scoring 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Illini need more than 15 points out of their big guys. But Nnanna Egwu and Jon Ekey did combine for five blocks.

Iowa A, Illinois  B

Gabriel Olaseni finished runner-up to Marble as P.O.G. with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Hawkeyes got 32 points from their subs, while Illini backups had 15. Not to state the obvious, but there is your game.

Iowa A-, Illinois B-

Credit John Groce’s team for not giving up when it fell behind by 21 in the first half. But you get no bump in the standings for “nice tries.” Iowa became the third Big Ten road team to win Saturday.

Just turn the freshman loose! I don't think it'll hurt this years outcome anyway.
