Nunn honored by Big Ten again

For the second straight week, Illinois’ Kendrick Nunn was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The 6-foot-3 guard, who has been instrumental in Illinois’ three-game win streak, averaged 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Illini in wins against Nebraska and Michigan State.

Since being inserted into the starting lineup six games ago at Penn State, the Simeon product is averaging 12.2 points, eight points better than he was scoring as a reserve off the bench for the first 23 games of the season.

He’s the only Illinois player ever to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The award was introduced for the 2010-11 season.

Nunn and the Illini close the Big Ten season with a pair of games this week. They hot Michigan on Tuesday for Senior Night and travel to Iowa on Saturday.
