CHAMPAIGN — While Illinois waits to find out if it will land any of its premier targets in the Class of 2015, John Groce and his coaching staff already have gotten to work on 2016 prospects. One of the most important targets in that class, 6-foot-10 forward Nick Rakocevic, will be on campus Friday for an unofficial visit with the Illini coaching staff.

The Westchester St. Joseph product is regarded as the top prospect in the state by some recruiting analysts, including Joe Henricksen of City/Suburban Hoops Report.
“What’s intriguing about Nick is he just kind of fits what Illinois wants; a 4 man who can stretch the floor a little bit and can shoot it,” Henricksen said of Rakocevic on WDWS 1400-AM’s “SportsTalk” last month. “He’s got a big upside, and he’s the top player in the sophomore class, which is a weak class, but he’s by far and away the No. 1 prospect.”
Rakocevic, who plays AAU ball with the Mac Irvin Fire, visited Illinois for the game against Ohio State in February and received an offer later that month. He’s also received offers from Creighton, Indiana, Miami and Wisconsin.
On his Twitter page, Rakocevic announced he also would visit Iowa and Xavier this month.
