Opening tip: Big Ten players prepping for NBA action
Here’s our look at the Big Ten players who might hear their names called at the 2015 NBA draft:
1. Frank Kaminsky, Wisconsin
The big man’s stock rose during last year’s NCAA tournament, and he’s got another year to showcase his skills.
2. Caris LeVert, Michigan
Made a monumental leap from freshman to sophomore seasons. Could have come out last season.
3. Sam Dekker, Wisconsin
Moving to his natural position at the small forward should allow the super athlete to better showcase his game.
4. A.J. Hammons, Purdue
If the big man ever plays with a consistent effort, he could be one of the more dominant post players in the country.
5. Branden Dawson, Michigan State
Played the best basketball of his career in the postseason, and if his jump shot improves, he can make himself a good pro.
6. Aaron White, Iowa
With Roy Devyn Marble gone, White becomes the man, and the versatile forward could greatly improve his NBA stock.
7. Terran Petteway, Nebraska
One of the best scorers in the country, the Cornhuskers’ playmaker must learn to play more under control to open scouts’ eyes.
8. Dez Wells, Maryland
A strong 2-guard who can generate offense on the dribble and away from the ball, consistency is the key to making it at next level.
9. Sam Thompson, Ohio State
Everyone knows how athletic the jumping jack is, and if he can develop a consistent jumper, there’s a place for him in the league.
10. Nnanna Egwu, Illinois
Defensively, he’s good enough, but he’s got to develop a couple of go-to moves offensively to get a legitimate shot.
