Five-star point guard Jalen Brunson of Stevenson reportedly will take an official visit to Illinois at the end of August, according to Joe Henricksen of the City/Suburban Hoops Report.
Henricksen tweeted the news Tuesday night.
Illinois also has three high-major Class of 2015 prospects set to arrive for an official visit to Champaign-Urbana in September or October.
Elijah Thomas, a five-star power forward out of Lancaster (Texas) High School, has one set up for the weekend of Sept. 19. And Thomas, who held dozens of offers at the start of his junior season at Lancaster, has narrowed his list down to six schools, according to ESPN, with Illinois one of the six.
A week before Thomas visits Illinois, Jimmy Whitt, a four-star point guard from Columbia (Mo.) Hickman, plans to make an official visit to Illinois.
And Shake Milton, a four-star combo guard from Oklahoma, is planning an official visit to Illinois in early October.
Perhaps of greater concern given that Illinois will have point guard depth issues surface after the 2014-15 season is Jawun Evans from Dallas Kimball High School is reportedly going to trim his list of schools to four on Wednesday.
According to recruiting analyst Derek Piper, Illinois will be among the final four schools for Evans, and a planned official visit to Illinois is imminent for the four-star point guard.
Illinois has two commits so far in John Groce's next recruiting class in Simeon wing D.J. Williams and Plainfield East shooting guard Aaron Jordan, with three scholarship still available.
The early signing period for this next recruiting class runs from Nov. 12-19
