SCOTT'S TAKE: Rhode Island has been the trendy pick for the "mid-major makes a run for national prominence" team the past couple seasons. Now, the Rams are finally trying to grab that mantle. They're taking care of business in the Atlantic-10 with a 9-0 league start part of a longer 12-game winning streak and are doing so with a top-20 defense and solid guard play. Both those come in handy in March.

SCOTT'S TAKE: Ohio State seemed to have the inside track to the Big Ten title this season what with Kelsey Mitchell (now the conference's all-time leading scorer) back and Maryland losing several of its top players. So much for "seemed." The Terrapins took down the Buckeyes last week, and it wasn't even close. The 30-point Maryland victory reaffirmed Brenda Frese's group as the best of the Big Ten.
