Men's basketball seats all available this week

CHAMPAIGN — A new arena — or at least newly-renovated — meant some changes in how the seats would be filled at State Farm Center for men’s basketball games in the 2015-16 season.

Namely, seat renewal for season ticket holders gave way to seat selection. Now that the re-seating has taken place, the rest of the season tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Tate: Groce needs to land bull's-eye

When a retired John Groce someday authors his book, he must pen a chapter on the difficulty of attracting the level of talent necessary to succeed as Illini basketball coach.

He can write that 17-year-old preps, who tend to convene with perennial winners, have seen Illinois win just two NCAA round-of-64 games since they were 8 years old.
