UI swimmers put wins in record book
The University of Illinois women''s swimming and diving team set a school record for wins in a season Saturday, beating Indiana and Notre Dame at IMPE Pool.
The sweep lifted the 22nd-ranked Illini to 10-3, eclipsing the 9-3 record set in 1994-95.
"This says a lot for this extremely talented group of girls," UI coach Jim Lutz said. "Not only have we beaten two Big Ten teams in the last two days (Iowa on Friday), but we are now one of the best teams the school has ever produced."
The UI won 13 of 14 races in beating Indiana 199.50-98.50 and Notre Dame 193-107.
Nicola Homenock and Traci Bollinger each won four events for the Illini. Jodi Smith and Erin Didde each won three events.
