Wings'' college-bound line schooling foes

DANVILLE If Niagara had gotten to Jason Tejchma sooner, the Purple Eagles might be able to start an entire line of former Danville Wings next year. When Aaron Clarke committed to the New York school, he joined Wings linemate Jeremy Hall, who committed earlier this year. Tejchma already is set to attend Massachusetts-Lowell. Clarke, a native of Peterborough, Ontario, was signed from Peterborough''s junior team after the Wings'' North American Hockey League season began. The winger has three goals and 10 assists in 18 games for the Wings, who host Team USA tonight and Saturday at Palmer Arena. "Since he''s come here, he''s added a great deal in terms of team speed, and he''s added a great deal of personality in the locker room," Wings head coach Chico Adrahtas said. "He sees the ice as well as anybody. He''s been a good power-play player for us, and he''s getting more time on the penalty kill. He''s been very important." Clarke stands out in a crowd because of his bushy, blond afro. Teamed with Tejchma and Hall for the last month, he stands out on the ice because of his play. For the season, they''ve combined for 72 points. "Aaron is a really consistent player," Adrahtas said. "I think his production will pick up. He''s the catalyst that makes that line go." * What a month. A few weeks ago, Wings forward Bryan Marshall said that when he''s "on, everything moves in slow motion." Apparently, that feeling lasted all of November. Marshall was named NAHL/Michigan Hockey Player of the Month after racking up eight goals and nine assists in 10 games as the Wings went 7-3. Marshall also moved into the league''s top 10 in scoring with 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists). And his most impressive performance didn''t even count toward those stats. Marshall scored four goals, including two game-winners, to lead the NAHL all-star team to a championship at the USA Hockey Top Prospects Tournament. "He clearly opened some eyes there," Adrahtas said. "We''ve gotten calls from Michigan Tech, Providence and Bowling Green within the last few days. It''s great to see him doing what he can do." * Star power. Team USA has a losing record, but the young squad has its share of talent. It''s led by Chad Kolerick, who has 22 points in 23 games and already has committed to Michigan. "He''s as good as any individual player we''ve played all year," Adrahtas said. "He''s one of the players people should watch." * Wings things. Marshall has moved into a tie for seventh all time with Josh Bowers at 42 goals. Tejchma''s next goal will give him 55 for his career, tying Lukas Dora for most in team history. Tejchma ranks sixth in assists (48) and fifth in points (104), two behind Todd Grant for fourth. ... With 124 penalty minutes in 24 games, Nick Marean is making a run at the single-season record. He''s 14 minutes out of the top 10 and needs 74 to tie Tobias Keyes'' mark.
